While searching the open web can be overwhelming, educational and government sites can be great resources.

Citing Sources

Remember to cite all sources you use, including photographs!

The databases provide citations that you can copy and paste directly into your works cited page. Our school subscription to EasyBib.com is another great tool. The librarian can provide a coupon code for a FREE upgrade to the EDU version.

Ask for help if you have any questions.

Citing E-Books

Some of our e-book providers like Gale provide ready-made citations, just like the research databases. For others, you will need to create a citation.

Cite an e-book just as you would the print version, with a little added information about how you accessed it. A basic citation for The Gilded Age looks like this:

Carlisle, Rodney P., ed. The Gilded Age. Vol. 4. New York: Facts on File, 2009. Handbook to Life in America. Destiny Discover. Web. 15 Dec. 2016.

If you are only using a single chapter of the book, include that:

"Family and Daily Life." The Gilded Age. Ed. Rodney P. Carlisle. Vol. 4. New York: Facts on File, 2009. N. pag. Handbook to Life in America. Destiny Discover. Web. 15 Dec. 2016.

In EasyBib, choose the Book tab, click the Manual Cite link, and then the Online Database tab. Complete the form and add to your works cited!
