Save Eagle Mountain Lake, West Bay Marina & Eagle Mountain Landing Bar & Grill, Harbor One Marina and The Lakehouse Restaurant @ Harbor One Marina along with Tow BoatUS Eagle Mountain Lake & Boatworx are hosting the Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 30th, 2019. The Parade of Lights will include prizes for the Best Decorated Boat in three different categories and Best Crew Costume. The proceeds from participation and voting will benefit the Save Eagle Mountain Lake Inc. Save Eagle Mountain Lake Inc. was formed in 1985 as a nonprofit organization. Save Eagle Mountain Lake, Inc. has a mission to preserve and protect the ecological environment and quality of Eagle Mountain Lake and its watershed by promoting community awareness and advocating lake issues. Their goal is to ensure this valuable resource will continue to serve future generations as a prime resource for recreation while meeting the water needs for Fort Worth and 29 other local communities.
This year, the festivities will begin a little earlier than normal. The parade will begin at West Bay Marina. Walter assures us they will have plenty of dockage and water for all the boats, but we need the boats registered by November 26th to get this done. Eagle Mountain Landing Bar & Grill is to have a hors d’oeuvres buffet, for $8 per ticket if pre purchased with entry fee, or $10 the day of. Jay said he would shoot for some live music while boat people make last minute preparations. In addition, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be on hand for Vessel Safety inspections.
This is where the first of five rounds of judging will take place. Judging will be conducted at Westbay Marina, Sammy’s, Fort Worth Boat Club, Augie’s and The Lakehouse. Each establishment will provide four resident judges. The total cumulative scores, reported from each judging location, will determine the overall winners. The number of trophies or prizes (TBD) depends on number of entrants in each class, but it should go three deep. Also new this year, will be open voting in support of S.E.M.L. We will award a Popular Vote award. Each location will also have a Popular Vote Jar. For a dollar a vote, customers can cast a vote for their favorite boat overall. For each vote, you will receive a raffle ticket for a door prize to TBD. Vote as many times as you like!!!!!
The parade will start departing the marina at 1715 (5:15 PM). The route will take us north of Hogsett Island to a lighted buoy to starboard, and then back south. Just before Lakeview, there will be another lighted buoy to leave to port, just before leaving Sammy’s and Lakeview Marina to port about 1755 (5:55 PM). Sammy’s will be hoisting a judging party. Robert Molina at Sammy’s is also shooting for some live music and parade specials. We will be leaving the Fort Worth Angler’s Club to starboard about 1810 (6:10 PM). From the Angler’s Club, go easterly towards Ranch House Slough to leave a lighted buoy to starboard at the end of shoal off Church Point. From there, continue south leaving Pelican Island at least 100 yards to starboard. We arrive at the Fort Worth Boat Club about 1835 (6:35 PM), leaving it to port. We will make a short turn to the east in front of the club leaving “E” mark to starboard, which will be a lighted and then turn SW to “S” mark, again lighted. We will leave “S” mark to port and head south towards Eagle Mountain Marina entrance, and turn back NE, leaving Augies to starboard about 1900(7:00 PM). From there, leave Burgess Point to starboard and head east to Carter Slough.
After leaving Baptist Point to starboard, enter Carter Slough along the south shore and make a counter clockwise route along the shoreline to starboard, leaving Carter Point to starboard and turn north towards “J” Dock and Dosier Slough. The parade will finish in the back of Dosier Slough. Please use this area to mill about and show off your lights while people are getting moored in Harbor One. If you are preregistered, we are going to do all we can to fit everyone in the marina. Again, that is why is very important to pre-register so we can make a docking plan to accommodate everyone.
This course should take 2 hours and 50 minutes at 5 knots faster if we can keep everyone at 6 knots. We will assigned boats throughout the parade who will be helping keep the pace. I know this is a little longer than normal, but the feedback we’ve received so far says do it.
