hosted it this year along with

The start and finish at the Fort Worth Boat Club harbor.

The Fort Worth Boat Club had the facilities, staff and no how to pull this event off and were very excited to host it for the first time. Also, they'll had the best viewing spot on the lake on their lawn and piers with heaters and fire pits strategically placed around. For the second straight year now we had a full lake to deal with. They opened up the club to non members for this event. The GM, Brant Briggs couldn't have been more gracious. He and his staff were spot on taking care of an extra 200 people that showed up. Casey Trimble, the harbor master and his dock hands did their best in marking slips for parade participants and repositioning boats because of the 18 mph winds that were still around at 4:00 PM. The cash bar and buffet were available to members and non members. A fabulous Mexican Buffet was served. I certainly wouldn't mind if this was served at next years event.

The event was held on Saturday, December 10th, 2016 @ 4:30 after a week delay because of the original date of December 3rd was rained out. Entry fee cost was a mere $25.00 per boat. For the second straight year now we've had a full lake to deal with. A total of 23 boats enrolled in the Parade and 16 ended up showing up. Doyle King came back again this year and trailered his boat all the way from Grand Prairie. The ramp was made available for launching parade boats. Steve Kailor & Carey Lewis of S.E.M.L. did a wonderful job in MC'ing the event. We had a short Skippers Meeting before the event took place at the Fort Worth Boat Club Dogie Room to explain the route were taking and all details. I didn't make it home in time to watch the 10:00 news so I didn't get to see it.

Many thanks to all the sponsors, winners, spectators, participants, FWBC, and S.E.M.L. for pulling it off.

This is for the folks that didn't think your boat could not participate because of no power plant or lights. The cost to decorate your boat is not that expensive. Sure if you want to really go crazy about cost you can. If you are not equipped with a generator on your boat that should not stop you. Portable generators and battery inverters are also relatively inexpensive and are more than able to power up your lights. LED's do not use that much power. I myself used a $100.00 portable generator last year and it was more than sufficient. I also used a $50.00 battery inverter that I got from Walmart that would have taken care of powering up the lights.
