Michigan State/Michigan Recap -Brian

Friday saw a somewhat early start to travel and we arrived in the Lansing area with plenty of time to unwind.

The Michigan State road race Saturday came up first this time and was relatively short at just about 20 miles. This led to a rather high pace in the beginning and with a lack of warm up I promptly fell off the lead group shortly into the second lap. I was picked up by a second group and we worked together to keep the lead group in sight until about 5 miles to go at which point they must have upped the pace quite a bit. After the usual few close calls in the middle of the men's D field we made it to the finish where I sprinted to stay in the middle of the group I was in.

After some food and coffee we made it back for the individual time trial that just Ian and I did from our team. It was just over 6 miles so shortly after the start we were at the finish straight with a serious tailwind capable of making us both spin out our biggest gear for the finishing sprint.

Sunday morning we had a late start and showed up to the Michigan crit with very little time to register and get to the start line. Marc was the only one to make it to the start as he had not moved his number from the road race. Ian and Johannes hopped in a lap down and road with the pack for a lap before realizing that it probably wasn't the best idea and dropping out to cheer Marc on.
