Marian/Purdue Recap -Brian

Right before leaving for the weekend of racing I got a package of parts to repair my wheels as they had some issues. As I'm diving into this project Ian shows up informing me that it is time to get myself in the car, so when we arrive at the hotel before getting to sleep it's time to repair a wheel for racing the next day.

We arrived at the Marian crit course in the morning and began the usual rush to get registered/attempt to get a lap in to see the course. With a warning to take the first lap slow the field began at a nice high pace. I fell off the lead group after the first couple of laps and kept the gap quite steady until having a little mechanical issue (not the wheels thankfully) and doing my best to catch back up. I attacked the small group that I was in on the last lap and opened up a gap but realized that it was some fairly poor timing and was picked back up to finish the race in 25. I met up with Louis and Ian after the race where I was informed that Louis had taken the race and Ian had done well in the second prime as well as 6th in the overall.

The Team Time Trial the following day went well but we had to race in the D category as we had no C rider this weekend. Shortly after returning to the cars from the time trial the gravel roadway took it's toll and my front tire failed quite suddenly (but at least we had a good 1:30 on the next team). We watched the road race where Louis, Ian, and Peter were quite successful again rounding out a good showing for the team this weekend.

It's quite obvious that I still have more learning to do but I'm getting more comfortable and confident every weekend. It is very noticeable that both Louis and Ian are making the transition from sticking with the pack to attacking and getting results. Lets keep this up the rest of the season.
