Cyclocross (n): How to have fun in the fall/winter on a bike.

In case anybody is still curious as to just what this whole cyclocross thing is all about you should watch this video. Its a mix of road and mountain biking with a few steeple-chase type barriers thrown in. Races are typically short and involve riding through fields or hard-pack trails with some paved sections as well as sand, mud, steep hills, and natural or man-made barriers forcing riders to quickly dismount, get through/over, and then remount. (Things you'll learn how to do at our clinic!) Equipment is basically anything with knobby tires and working brakes, mt bikes are fine but if you get serious you'll end up with something lighter and that looks more like a road bike. The season typically runs from fall through winter. Loads of fun, the atmosphere isn't uptight or snobby like at road races, everybody is just out to have a good time and most stick around to watch/cheer on/taunt other categories.
