CSUN Youth Orchestras
The Philharmonic is the top level orchestra and is comprised of between 80-100 students each year. This ensemble plays standard orchestra literature mainly from the late romantic period and the 20th century. Auditions are highly competitive and take place in late spring.
Symphony:
The Symphony is an intermediate orchestra of 70-90 members and plays both standard works and arrangements. Players are expected to have approximately four years or more of experience. Auditions take place in early September each year.
California State University at Northridge
Students currently in the Hale Charter Academy Orchestras who wish to advance their playing can audition for the CSUN Youth Orchestras. CSUN Youth Orchestra season begins with Auditions in late August / early September concluding in early May. Rehearsals are every Saturday and there are two concerts per season. Rehearsals and Concerts take place at CSUN. When you are a part of CSUN YO, you bring back to HALE a wealth of experience and knowledge which in turn enhances the Hale Instrumental Music Program, the Hale Student Body, and your community.

Camerata Strings:
The Camerata Strings is a group of approximately 50-70 string players all of whom have
two to four years experience. The group performs intermediate level works for string orchestra.
