Concert and Performance Attendance

Concert and Performance Attendance

Your attendance and presence to perform for concerts whether on campus, off campus, a competition or, a festival is very important. During the day of a concert, your peers will rely and count on you to be present for the performance. Concerts are mandatory and they are public displays and publications of your learning. The live concert is the most authentic assessment of your learning and music making experience as a group or individual. For excused absences, when you miss a graded concert, you must make up your performance on the classroom ipad during nutrition or lunch and perform all of your concert music. You may also record your music at home if you have access to appropriate video recording technology or simply make an appointment to play all of your music for Mr. Cruz after school or during lunch. Your make-up performance will be graded like a playing test but your score will fall under the concerts category. You will be assessed on pitch and intonation, note accuracy, rhythmic accuracy, tempo, dynamics, and articulation. Simply attend and perform at the concert, follow all protocols and instructions, and you receive full credit for the concert.

Scheduling Conflicts with Concerts

If you foresee an excusable scheduling conflict, please consult with Mr. Cruz as soon as possible but no later than 2 weeks before the concert or performance date. Please try to schedule major medical or dental appointments during winter break, spring break, or summer. If you are in other extra curricular activities such as scouts, religious, or athletics, please let Mr. Cruz know about your schedule and general availability to allow Mr. Cruz to make rehearsal changes.Â
