About

The Hale Charter Academy Instrumental Music Program is a comprehensive winds and strings program that consists of two concert bands, jazz ensemble, two string orchestras, and drumline. Various after school activities also exist depending on student interest such as Mariachi, and additional jazz ensembles. The Instrumental Program at Hale consistently serves 8% to 10% of Hale's 2200 students every year. There is a rich tradition of music making at Hale and in the West San Fernando Valley and there has been only three instrumental music directors at Hale in the past 60 years.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Hale Charter Academy Instrumental Music Program is to teach and provide the necessary behaviors, skills, and performance fundamentals to appreciate music. These behaviors enable positive habits of mind for lifelong learning and adaptability as well as being lifelong consumers and or performers of music. Members of the Instrumental Program learn, understand, and develop the importance of teamwork, concentration, discipline, character, self control, time management, patience, repetition, reinforcement, the productive struggle, and how to process setbacks and receive constructive criticism.

Vision Statement

The Hale Charter Academy Instrumental Music Program strives and aims to teach and foster the highest standards and expectations of music and to be one of the most innovative, and relevant, middle school instrumental music programs.
