Congratulations to Gayle and Dennis Baxter, who have been selected as the Bella Vista Garden Club Yard of the Month.
They have been in Bella Vista since 2007 but moved to Perth Dr in July 2022. Dennis is the Director at a large national transportation company and Gayle retired last year from JB Hunt as a network Engineer and is originally a farm-girl from Kansas who raised rabbits and chickens and milked cows each morning. Gayle is also a runner and has qualified for the Boston marathon in the past. Bikes are fun for her as well.
Gayle is working on totally transformed the yard and the adjacent side yard. Still a lot to do but is going to install a dry creek bed and some raised beds there and a serene setting for entertaining and relaxing. The lot is cleared and ready for her new look. Her plans look amazing!

October 2022 - YARD OF THE MONTH
Joyce and Charles Harp
2 Carsphairn Ln, Bella Vista, AR
Congratulations to Joyce and Charles Harp and their dog named Penny, who have been selected as the Bella Vista Garden Club Yard of the Month. They were nominated by their daughter, Shauna.
The Harps are native Arkansans from Bentonville and Springdale. Charles is a Retired Firefighter who served 28 years with the POA and then the City of Bella Vista. He also is an avid fishman who served many years as a local fishing guide. Joyce taught junior high school in Bentonville for 33 years. She loves to play Bunco and watch movies. The Harps live at the end of the Lane and own most of the lots surrounding them. They both are involved with the design and maintenance. Penny supervises and enjoys the sunshine and chasing the abundant wildlife. The highlight of their beautiful yard is a heart shaped flower bed containing peonies, Iris and several other plants from Joyce’s mother’s yard. They love birds as well and have had three hatches of bluebirds this year. Spending time in their backyard firepit and entertaining their neighbors is another joy for both of them.
The Bella Vista Garden Club thanks you, Charles and Joyce for yet another example of a well-kept yard and helping to keep Bella Vista beautiful year-round! The Bella Vista Garden Club promotes and rewards exemplary yard care in Bella Vista and recognizes neighbors who demonstrate above-average efforts in maintaining their property, which contributes to the overall appearance of the community at large.
All homes and businesses in Bella Vista are eligible. Nominations are for the front and side yards jointly. One yard is chosen each month by members of BVGC who select the yard that best exemplifies uniqueness, beauty and curb appeal.

September 2022 - YARD OF THE MONTH
Jim and Nancy Kaiser
4 Kirkpatrick Lane, Bella Vista, AR
Congratulations to Jim and Nancy Kaiser and their dog Chloe, who have been selected as the Bella Vista Garden Club Yard of the Month. They moved to Bella Vista two years ago from Wichita, KS and immediately began a total renovation of their Bella Vista home. They were both accountants with Cargill before retiring. They have totally transformed the yard and house since moving in. All undergrowth was removed from the side yard, plants all replaced around the front and then beautifully landscaped.
Jim is a Benton County Master Gardener and was a Master Gardener in Kansas before moving here. Jim is always working in his yard. He also has several raised beds and raises tomatoes, cantaloupes, and several other vegetables. Nancy is a great cook and makes great dishes from the produce. Basil was especially good this year she says. Chloe supervises and enjoys the sunshine. Jim’s favorite plants are lantanas, coleus and daylilies.

August 2022 - YARD OF THE MONTH
Tom Morrisett and Rocio Roman
8 Kildonan Drive, Bella Vista
Congratulations to Tom Morrisett and Rocio Roman, who have been selected as the Bella Vista Garden Club Yard of the Month. They were recommended by their appreciative neighbor, Gwen Kerr. They moved to Bella Vista in 2019 and immediately began a total renovation of their property. Tom is a Fine Arts designer and artist and is originally from Minnesota. Rocio is an Oral Surgeon in Mexico, travels a great deal for her work, and is an excellent chef according to Tom. They are both very health oriented. Together they own and manage Present Moment Retreat, a boutique hotel, spa and yoga retreat in Mexico. Tom manages the retreat from his home in Bella Vista. All rock was removed from the yard and then beautifully landscaped adding several well-placed seating areas throughout their property. The crowning touch is some beautiful yard art pieces cleverly placed bringing the design together to form a beautiful setting.

July 2022 - YARD OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Paul & Gail Meyer, who have been selected as the Bella Vista Garden Club Yard of the Month. They were recommended by their appreciative neighbor, George and Val Watson. They moved to Bella Vista in 2001 from Dallas but are originally from Minnesota. Before retirement, Gail was a Dental Hygienist and Paul was in the car business and owned a Ballroom for many years. Gail really loves bringing small spaces to life. She loves a layered look using mounds with stones, tucking in floppy grass that spills over in a birdbath and perhaps a bench for structure. She loves to add color and always a bit of whimsy to her designs.
They have totally transformed the yard since moving in. Paul has a small vegetable garden in back. One of their best features is the rescue of their lot next door. On a recent trip to Minnesota, Gail was delighted to find a vintage birdbath at an estate sale of a dear friend who had one of the most beautiful yards in the city. She brought the birdbath home, visited her friend in the nursing home and shared her plans to make it a focal point in the lot transformation making both of them very happy!
