The 'Bella Vista' daffodils are looking awesome at the Veteran's Wall of Honor this morning when I went down to weed, etc.

Tree Planting October 18, 2021

Finally the hollies that received severe damage due to this past winter's -17 degree temperatures have been replaced. This morning due to much planning and preparation by Tony LaCausi, a large turnout of Club members and help from Benton County inmates, 10 Zmatlik Arborvitae's have been planted. This shrub which grow's to 15' is cold hardy to -40 degrees.

Thanks from Tony LaCausi

Many thanks to all who showed up on a chilly morning. Also thanks to Garden City for helping me find a suitable plant and giving them to us at cost. If you happen to go there, be sure to thank them again. Also the cost for the plants came from an anonymous donor who happens to be a Club member. So at future meetings be nice to the person sitting next to you, as if you don't already, right. The compost was donated by the City of Bentonville and the mulch was gifted as well. So the entire project cost us zip. I'm walking on clouds to be among the members of The Bella Vista Garden Club.

A big shout out to Tony LiCausi & Patricia Meyer for working all day on July 8th at the Veterans Wall of Honor. The holly trees which were damaged by the hard winter are finally gone! Posted 7/9/21

The hollies have been removed. Thanks to the Sheriff's department who came with 3 inmates to do the heavy lifting and heavy it was. Seven hours later we finally removed the last one at four in the afternoon. Many thanks go out to Cathy Downard, Ray Matkowski and Ginny Vance. Special thanks to Pat Meyer who arrived at 8 a.m. with home baked cookies and left at 4 p.m. Later, she ran to Lowe's to buy a tarp when it was needed and called her husband, Bill, to bring more tools. If that wasn't enough she bought bottled water when we ran out and oranges too. Folk's, I think we have a winner in our new president, Pat Meyer.

Hope everyone has a healthy and joyous summer and we hope to see you at The Vet's Wall in early October for the replacement plantings. Posted 7/10/21

Weekely trip to the Veteran's Wall to weed and deadhead. There was a group of young men down there power washing the sidewalks and memorial and putting fresh mulch around the shrubs around the walking trail. They offered me some free mulch and even help me put in down around the flower bed, it made the flowers really pop. They were with Hooyeah Tree and Landscape and it was so nice for them to donate the mulch and help. I have included a picture of the two (Ryan and Bo) in that order on the picture. Bo is the one that helped with the flower bed. Have a good week!
