Small group instruction is emphasized by all teachers, administrators, and support staff at Tiger Academy. Diagnostic assessments are used to drive student groupings, and instruction is based on common needs of the students in each group. The groups are fluid, and teachers move students from one group to another based on their progress. Focus calendars are adjusted throughout the school year to accommodate for topics that students learned quicker than expected and topics that were more challenging and took longer to teach than expected. Data is routinely discussed and used to determine the next steps in instruction, as well as anecdotal notes made by teachers and interventionists during small group instruction.
