Teachers at Tiger implement a common grading system across primary and intermediate grades. Each teacher is provided with an outline of weighted categories for each subject, and a list of examples of types of assignments and activities that can be used to calculate grades. All teachers are required to meet with parents at the beginning of the school year and again at least once throughout the school year. Teachers document parent communication using logs and parent/teacher conference forms. In addition to communicating progress to parents, teachers meet one-on-one with students regularly in the form of a student data chat. In these meetings, teachers and students discuss current data, review progress, and set goals. Weekly classroom newsletters are also posted on the school’s website and provide a snapshot of the learning that is taking place each week.
