Raises the awareness of a healthy lifestyle and promotes the practise of healthy life;
Supervises students to develop good personal hygiene practices;
Keeps the environment clean and hygienic to control against communicable diseases and ensure a safe and healthy environment for students.
Health service
Coordinates the health programmes of all students, including student health service, dental care service, and vaccination;
Keeps in close contact with the Department of Health.
Assessment
Assesses students’ health condition;
Sorts out students’ medical records and nursing records.
Treatment and nursing
Offers nursing service or emergency care for students in need;
Attends medical appointment with students when necessary to help parents and medical practitioners better understand students’ health condition;
Arranges the use of drugs according to the prescription by registered doctors;
Proactively follows up on students’ medical appointments and keeps in close contact with medical practitioners to better understand students’ health conditions and make suitable arrangements.
School environment and food hygiene
Carries out regular inspections to ensure the school premise is clean and hygienic;
Monitors the nutritional quality of lunch and provides opinions for lunch suppliers.
Health education promotion
Increases students' sports motivations and controls their weights through fitness service and reward schemes;
Organises health talks for students and parents regularly to enhance their knowledge in health and hygiene;
Organises health talks for teachers (e.g. on Epilepsy) to help the staff understand the latest updates on health information.
Collaborative training
Collaborates with teachers and the occupational therapist to offer suitable health services for students (e.g. student fitness scheme, sensory integration training, etc.). Such services can strengthen students’ competencies in sensory, motor, and cognition, thus increase physical fitness and enhance self-confidence.
