Welcome to Hong Chi Morninglight School, Yuen Long!
Although there are still uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are very pleased that the school can resume face-to-face classes in this school year. The students can return to school with delight and excitement as well as enjoy their learning with the care and support from teachers. In order to use students’ leisure time well and extend their learning time, online extra-curricular activities held by teachers and professional tutors have been offered to the students in the afternoon. In the coming days, the school has specially arranged afternoon support services and extra-curricular activities for students who meet the latest vaccination requirements by EDB to enrich their learning experiences. Under the new normal situation, our team will continue to work hard and educate students by upholding the “student-oriented” principle. We will commit ourselves to increase the efforts in seeking new ways and measures to overcome the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The major concerns in this school year:
1 a) Provide good quality and diversified learning resources to the students;
b) Enhance students’ participation in classes and their self-learning ability;
c) Extend students’ learning from school to home;
2 a) Promote positive attitude to different stakeholders of the school;
b) Establish positive school culture and atmosphere;
3 a) Strengthen the staffs’ professionalism by following their individual development plan;
b) Build a high-performing team with good communication among the staffs.
To pursue the creation of a quality and comfort school environment for the students:
During the last Summer Holiday, the school has already undertook a renovation project on basketball court, computer room and Immersive Virtual Reality Room. For improvement works in school, the Student Activity Room has been altered into a classroom and a multi-function room. The meeting room has also been altered into a special room and a mini meeting room. In order to create a better learning environment, a new “Student Activity Centre” with air-conditioning system is expected to be completed and open to the students by the end of 2022.
Provide diversified learning experiences and effective use of electronic technology:
A funding from Quality Education Fund has been granted to start and run the “To create Immersive Virtual Reality Room – Enhancing the learning efficiency by Immersive Virtual Reality technology” Programme from 2021 to 2024.
Our school has successfully applied for the funding from “I.T. Innovation Lab Project”. With the help of the project, the school can promote the teaching activities relating to VR headset. Besides enhancing the I.T. skills of the students, it can enrich students’ learning experiences as well as strengthen the learning efficiency and students’ participation.
In response to the major concern (“Optimizing Learning Resources”, “Enhancing Students’ Learning Motivation and their Self-learning Ability”) in this school year, “RainbowOne Self Learning Award Scheme” has been launched. RainbowOne electronic assignments will be distributed to the students on each school term and extend their learning from school to home. The award scheme will encourage the students to practice more at home and cultivate their senses of self-directed learning.
Our school has participated the “Little Energy Scientists” Project in this school year once again which is co-organized by Asian Energy Studies Centre, Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Chi Association. Through a series of STEAM exploratory activities, students can understand concepts of technology and environmental friendliness so as to make contributions to the society by promoting community partnership and advocating the development of low-carbon communities.
With a view to enhance administrative efficiency and reduce paper waste, “GRWTH e-Notice” has replaced printed circulars since 1st October 2022 (Saturday). It will be more convenient and time-saving for parents to access the school information.
“Hi-Five Student Engagement Award Scheme” Special Prize:
Our school has won the “Emotional Engagement” special award in the 4th “Hi-Five Student Engagement Award Scheme 2021-2022”. The award scheme is co-organized by The Education University of Hong Kong, Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service and Education Bureau. We are delighted that our efforts in creating positive school environment and providing opportunities for students to have more positive emotion experiences as well as enhancing the energy level and resilience of the students are being recognized by the panel of adjudicators.
I am strongly believe that with the collaborative efforts from all the staff in our school, our students are able to realize and maximize their full potential. We will uphold our service motto “Children come first” to provide diversified and quality education for our students along their life journeys. We hope that our students can grow healthily and happily with “Confidence”, “Perseverance”, “Care” and “Joy”.
