Purpose:
To experiment, explore, and learn a variety of watercolor painting techniques;
To use knowledge of landscape strategies to create a final watercolor landscape;
I think that my first one was a better start in the sky, but got worse off later on. I was very careful leaving a lot of white when I was painting my first one, but my final one was definitely darker. My background mountains were too dark on my first one, and I needed to lighten it up on my second, which I did, and you could easily spot how much lighter it is. Through my first and final painting, I learned how dark I should go and how to shade my mountains and clouds so they fit together. I mainly used whisking, wet in wet, side only and dry brush when doing big pieces. When I was shading though, I just had two colors together and blended them by adding water on their border, which leads to having multiple middle tones between them and then looking smoother and nicer. I think I went a little dark on my front mountains, which had an easy wrap around by just avoiding it after and continuing on with the mountain and trying to mesh it together.
