Purposes:
To learn about the career of a visual effects artist;
To learn how mythology inspires a variety of designs;
To use Photoshop tools to alter and morph animals in a number of ways that build upon basic skills.
I made my animal look believable by using the spot healing brush and clone stamp tools. The spot healing brush was helpful to move feathers from the penguin’s body closer to the guinea pig’s head, which allowed me to make the to closer, and cover the guinea pig a bit as to not look like I stuck the head on the penguin. The clone stamp tool was helpful when trying to blend together the two animals, especially when I wanted the guinea pig cheek fur to overlap the penguin’s feathers. I also used masking quite a bit to change the color of the guinea pig fur to the same shade of grey as the penguin feathers. The masking feature had ways to change the contrast, color, brightness, and saturation of the head, but I was still able to keep the nose and mouth of the guinea pig the same color.
