Suggested activities can be repeated and you can choose what to enjoy at any time during the week.

I hope you enjoy them!

Activities to Choose From For All Grades

Book Club

Are Pirates Polite? Well, yes and no....our author engages the readers in a playful review of what it means to be polite (or impolite!) Feel free to enjoy this story with your child! In Social Group, we made connections with "expected" vs. "unexpected" behavior as well as using one's manners when going someplace new where rules are not explicitly written or stated (or are "hidden".) Feel free help your child make connections with the ways rules may be hidden and how to look for clues to figure out what is expected. (e.g., watch others; use manners; ask questions...)

Mindfulness

Mindfulness exercises can be done at any time! I generally guide the students in the beginning and at the end of each lesson. These brain based exercises can help bodies and brains remain calm and focused. This year's series of mindfulness exercises largely came from a collection titled "Little Renegades."

Fox Ears Find a comfortable sitting position. Take a deep breath in and hold for three seconds then release. Pretend you have little fox ears on top of your head. Sit quietly while breathing comfortably and slowly and listen to the sounds around you. Focus on the sounds you hear for thirty seconds. Take another deep breath, hold and release.

Recreational SEL

Spider Web Slime Recipe Fun. play and laughter are important ways children can learn! Here is a fun science activity that can also be a mindfulness exercise (focus on how the slime feels and describe how it feels or what comes to mind...) as well as provide a spring board for pretending. Enjoy!

Following the Rules with Adam Parker Join Mr. Parker in discussion and song about how and why we have rules. In Social Group, we talk about how rules help us to know what to do; keep us safe and help us learn. (Dancing is allowed!)

"First you got to Check what are the rules

Then you got to think about what you gonna do

Then you got to ask a whole Lotta questions so you know if you understand

Then you got to follow you got a follow the rules you got a follow them follow the rules

If you’re listening to the directions things will go smooth"

And the most important "hidden rule" of all is to ask questions when you do not know what to do!
