WORLAND — The Lady Warriors basketball team will officially open their season when practice begins on November 24. Head coach Mark Mortimer has set ambitious goals for the year, aiming to finish as a top-four seed entering the regional tournament, rank among the top eight teams statewide in both scoring offense and scoring defense, and ultimately secure a spot at the state tournament.
One of the main challenges Mortimer anticipates is defining and developing roles within the team. To address this, he plans to incorporate extensive scrimmaging early on, giving players the opportunity to naturally establish where they fit best.
Reflecting on last season, Mortimer emphasized the importance of early commitment and team unity. “The end of the season is too late for buy-in; it has to be from day one,” Mortimer said.
Good luck to the Lady Warriors as they tip off a new season.
