Worland- The Worland Cross Country team wrapped up its 2025 season last week with its state competition in Casper led by coaches Tanya Kienlen and Brenna Abel.
Overall, the team earned 4th place for 3A boys and 3A girls.
Owen Jameson, a freshman, spoke about what it was like on the team for the first time. Jameson said that the season went really well in his experience, and even broke his personal record many times.
“I PR'd a lot, and even broke 19 minutes at the Powell course,” Jameson said. Jameson looks forward to having this experience once again next year.
According to Jameson, Junior Nolan Johnston really had a breakout season. Johnston had not made Varsity before this season and ended being the backup runner for the state competition.
According to Abel, the boys team won multiple meets this year. “We had a tie breaker out home meet with Buffalo and then did win with our number 6 runner placed better than Buffalo's number 6 runner,” Abel said.
Abel said the downfall or disappointment was that the Conference competition was supposed to be in Lander, but it was cancelled due to weather and not rescheduled. Worland High School was awarded All- Conference based upon 3A West performance at the state meet. Kade Garcia, Hayden Phelps (from Ten Sleep), and Ava Tapia are the three WHS All-Conference runners.
The departing Seniors who ran for their final meet are Ethan Partridge and Chris Martinez.
