Madison Area Food Pantry Gardens (including Verona Clinic garden)
Striving to help our neighbors by providing local fresh food pantries with fresh, nutritious, and culturally relevant vegetables.

Community Partners: 8 garden locations (ongoing opportunities at Forward Garden at the Pope Farm Homestead) supplying more than 20 food pantries and other community food programs (including Badger Prairie Needs Network)
ChopChop Family Cooking Club
The ChopChop Cooking Club hosts Fall and Spring cooking classes for children 5-12 and their families. Using the ChopChop Family Platform, these classes model healthy cooking while having fun in the process. Recipes use ingredients that align with SNAP and WIC benefits, and class activities foster relationship-building nutrition awareness and language literacy. We host classes at the community kitchen at BPNN, both in person and virtual, as well as classes at The Learning Kitchen at UW Health East Madison Hospital.

Capital High Parenting Program
A partnership was created between the Wingra Clinic and, at the time, SAPAR (student-age parent program – now Capital High Parenting Program) to help address common medical concerns and education related to pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting specifically for pregnant or parenting high school students. By being available for questions and discussions about topics pertinent to the students, DFMCH Faculty and residents have been bridging the gap between a high-risk group of students and the medical field.

Madison Dane County Public Health Department Quarterly FIMR (Fetal Infant Mortality Review
Community-based, action-oriented process aimed at improving services, systems, and resources for women, infants, and families. FIMR brings a multidisciplinary community team together to examine confidential de-identified cases of fetal and infant deaths.

This innovative program addresses social determinants of health and has a potential national impact.

Enhancing Representation in Community Health (EnRICH)
Mission to provide mentorship and experiences in primary care to students in order to increase the number of physicians who represent our diverse patient populations and improve the health of the community.

Access to Opioid Use Disorder Treatment for Incarcerated Populations

Latino Health Council
The Latino Health Council is a non-profit comprised of over 40 key healthcare-related organizations and agencies throughout Dane County. We are the only multi-agency organization of its nature in Dane County and have become a trusted resource for individuals and organizations interested in Latino health. The mission of the Latino Health Council is to promote and support the health and well-being of the Latino community through education, advocacy, consulting, and networking.

MEDiC
MEDiC is a student-led organization that runs six free health clinics throughout the Madison area. Residents may serve as consultants to MEDiC student leaders and help with systems approaches, reviewing medical protocols, promoting health equity, and possibly help to coordinate resident involvement/volunteers at MEDiC and volunteer at MEDiC themselves

Cervical Cancer Workshops Education and Screening for Hmong and Karenni Women in Milwaukee
Residents are invited to support workshops that are led by community health workers, which aim to provide group education and then offer screening for cervical cancer (options will include co-testing clinician-collection or self-collection for HPV). Residents will help with facilitating the collection of samples for cervical cancer screening, reviewing educational materials, and developing protocols and process for follow-up of results.

Medical Consultant Assistant for HIV/STD Clinic in Milwaukee
City of Milwaukee Health Department Sexual Health Center: Public health clinic evaluating and treating sexually transmitted infections along with providing epidemiology, contact tracing, and partner services. Current Action Items Include: updating medical orders/protocols for addressing STI management, expanding access to contraception, evaluating and addressing rising rates of congenital syphilis

AREA: Anti-Racism Education and Advocacy Group
Residents meet several times per month to do further anti-racism education, participate in anti-racism work and advocacy, and develop community partnerships/projects to help with anti-racism in the community, especially related to healthcare. The group has started again and will be doing some meetings during R2/3 seminar time.

Madison Gospel 5K (MG5K) Foundation: Health Committee Member
The MG5K foundation was established in February 2019 as a charitable organization that focuses on supporting the health and wellness of families of color. Residents are invited to participate in the health committee, which meets monthly via Zoom to discuss and plan events on behalf of the community of color in Madison. One of the foundation's main events is to plan an annual 5K run/walk and health fair, open to all and specifically advertised to people of color with historical barriers to access to health and wellness resources.
