Board Review Resources for Family Medicine Residents
ABFM In-Training Exam Online Critique
Residents can review the In-Training Exam by accessing the critique on the ABFM Website. Log into the Physician Login and click on the link to In-Training Exam Critiques. Contact Justin if you don’t know your ABFM ID number. To target the questions you answered incorrectly, see the packet of materials that came with your In-Training Exam score – the Item Performance Reports highlight questions answered incorrectly in red. Justin also sent you the exam document and the critique.
AAFP Online Board Review Questions
The AAFP has more than 1300 board review questions available on its website for resident members. (The program pays for your membership and you enrolled during R1 Orientation.) If you don’t know your login information, you can contact customer service at 1-800-274-2237.
AAFP Family Medicine Board Review Self Study Package
The Program has the latest (15th) edition of the AAFP’s comprehensive self-study package. Available are:
Videos, MP3s, and PDFs of the Board Review materials.
Printed version of the PDFs.
Audio CDs of the presentations.
This includes 48 modules and 4 questions per module
Android and iPhone / iPad Apps
ABFM Knowledge Self-Assessment Modules (KSAs)
Two KSA modules are required by the ABFM for Board Certification (residents work on certification requirements during their Management of Health Systems Rotation). These modules are highly reviewed, and residents may choose to complete additional modules as part of their exam preparation.
ABFM Continuous Knowledge Self-Assessment Questions (CKSAs)
The ABFM CKSA questions are 25 questions quarterly that you can complete online or on the ABFM CKSA app. These count toward CME and are practice board questions. Everyone should complete these.
Formal Board Review Course
Residents with low In-Training Exam scores may want to consider using CME time to attend a formal board review course. These courses cover both content and effective test-taking strategies.
See the AAFP website for courses.
