Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It is no secret that stringed instruments can be some of the trickiest to conquer when starting out. My pride in the progress of Year 3 violinists and Year 5 ukulele players is therefore immense! With our school focus on mental toughness, these musicians are certainly living it out in a practical way, yet with impressive enthusiasm and positivity. Nursery and Reception children have been developing their aural recognition of a wider range of instruments and Year 1 continue to rise to the challenge of rhythm reading as a team. Year 2 recorder players are consolidating their posture, hand-position, breathing and note production skills as well as becoming familiar with treble clef notation through their playing. The Year 4 show is shaping up to one of enthusiastic, harmonious vocals and Year 6 collaborated together to form some fantastic melodic riff combinations which they performed on tuned percussion instruments and piano in a united and effective manner.
Bravo Willington musicians, yet again!
