Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week in Reception, we had an exciting time finishing our journey through the rocky planets, learning all about Earth and Mars. We created some stunning planet artwork, showcasing our creativity, and wrote brilliant facts to show off our knowledge. The children were fascinated by the unique features of each planet and loved sharing their discoveries.
In Maths, we focused on recapping addition using a number line, building our confidence and accuracy with this important skill. The children enjoyed challenging themselves with tricky sums and showing their working.
Phonics was just as exciting, as we revisited our digraphs and introduced two tricky words with the same letters, ‘saw’ and ‘was.’ We explored the Black Cat digraph ‘or’ and thought of some fantastic words like ‘orbit’ and ‘tornado’ to expand our vocabulary. We also learned the Angry Red A digraph ‘ai,’ practicing blending and spotting it in different words.
The best part of our week was baking moon rock cakes. They were so delicious that they barely made it out of the school gate at the end of the day.
