Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Welcome to our Week 3 newsletter.
In Humanities we have been investigating the biomes of the Middle East; creating a fact file on the animals, reptiles and plants that are native to the Arabian desert. In History, we are learning about life in medieval Baghdad, undertaking independent research on a topic before creating a beautiful fact file, inspired by historical Islamic manuscripts.
In English this week we have enjoyed reading more of Skellig and have been looking at the different themes within the novel, including the subtext and symbolism. We have also enjoyed learning all about William Blake, who inspires Mina in Skellig, and his views on formal education as set out in his poem 'The Schoolboy'. In French this week we have been identifying new places in a town and learning how to ask for and give directions in French.
In Science, we learnt about the Law of Reflection and how objects are reflected in plane mirrors. We also looked at the parts of the human eye and explored different ways how some animals are able to see the world around them. In Computing, we started learning how to build a Google Site, each of us creating one on a topic of our choice.
Have a great weekend!
