Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Another week has zipped by in Year 2 as we get closer to half term. In Maths, we’ve been exploring the world of 3D shapes. The children examined various shapes, counting faces, edges, and vertices, and identified which 2D shapes form their faces. We also had fun sorting the shapes on Venn diagrams and spotting real-life examples of 3D shapes around the classroom. In English, our adventures with The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch took a wonderfully creative turn. After planning their own versions of the story last week—where they changed parts of the tale but kept the missing lunch dilemma—the children got crafty making puppets of their brand-new characters. In Science, we carried on with our ‘Shaping Up’ topic by investigating how some materials change when heated. The children tested popcorn, chocolate, butter, and bread, predicting what might happen before observing the changes. The grand finale? A delicious tasting session that was definitely a highlight for everyone! Wwe got building in Geography this week and had a go at building the Great Wall of China using Lego. The results were so impressive.
Have a wonderful weekend!
