I joined Model United Nations during my first year of high school. During that time, I was extremely shy, with very limited confidence. Attending MUN conferences helped develop my confidence, debating skills, knowledge about current global issues, and how to talk professionally. At first, it was difficult for me to go out of my comfort zone and debate, ultimately resulting in getting wrecked by other delegates. But, slowly I grew out of my introvert shell and started to be more outgoing and confidence in my claims. After several conferences, the challenge of debating for my position came naturally to me. Furthermore, collaborating with others has shown me that I am not the only one going through the process of development. My skills have only developed due to the teamwork it takes to debate upon a resolution. Additionally, resolutions are meant to solve issues of global significance, issues I wouldn't have been aware of if it weren't a topic in my conference. MUN has made me more aware of global issues and how we can come to a solution by drafting resolutions.
