Department Information
2-D and 3-D Art
Participating in art classes, students learn to think outside the box, practice critical thinking and observational skills, and that practice increases creativity. The department focus is on learning art principles and their application in all mediums. The department strives to deliver the best art experience possible for students enrolled in art courses for cultural and aesthetic development. Although not mandated, the program aims at fostering a degree of visual literacy for the entire school community. Career education, portfolio preparation, and counseling are an ongoing part of all art course offerings. Students have access to graphics resources that include Apple computers, still video cameras, scanners; laser and large format color inkjet printers, as well as manual and digital cameras.
TV Video Production
For students interested in learning about videos cameras and editing techniques, this is the class for you! Students will learn proper video techniques & composition and how to edit their videos using Adobe Premiere Pro. Students experiment with many different roles in the production process from director to talent and learn to use equipment in the control room and television studio. There is a community service component to all TV-Video classes. Students must film one sporting event, performing arts event, in-school assembly, after school meeting or a class discussion. Students are also required to help out with filming the Friday Morning Announcements at some point during the semester.
