ACHIEVEMENTS
NEW ZEALAND AWARDS:
Celebrating our New Zealand representatives or students who have won a New Zealand individual title .
At the 2024 WEGC sports prizegiving the students were recognised and received a Silver Fern with WEGC engraved on it to go on their blazers and students who have a NZ title or have represented NZ in a World or multi nation event received a picture frame that will be hung on our NZ honours board in the Sports centre. We thanks the parents association for their support of these frames.
2024 New Zealand Representatives
Chelsey Moananu
HANDBALL
Chelsey represented New Zealand in the Under 19 Women's Handball team. This team competed for the International Handball Federation Trophy in New Caledonia.
Keira Rolston-Larking
Gymnastics
Keira is a member of the New Zealand national gymnastics team and competes at a senior international level. In 2024 Keira competed at the Pacific Rim Championships in Columbia and was also on the long list to be selected for the Paris Olympics.
Keira was a finalist at the Sport Person of the Year awards ceremony and has also just been selected in the 2025 Gymnastics team.
Scarlett Hardy
ARTISTIC SWIMMING
formerly known as Synchronised Swimming is a hybrid mix of swimming, gymnastics, and dance that challenges the participants in the water.
Scarlett was a member of the New Zealand artistic team that travelled to Peru to compete at the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming Championships in 2024. Scarlett was a member of the NZ Koru team who had the top NZ international performance of 2024 in Peru.
Siobhan Bolger
SOFTBALL
Siobhan's softball campaign started in November 2023 travelling to American Samoa to play in the Oceania World Cup Regional Qualifying tournament – NZ placed 1st. Siobhan was also selected for the U18 New Zealand White Sox's team that went to the USA and then Brazil ( São Paulo) for the World Cup Qualifier. The team placed 3rd.
Molly Judd
FOOTBALL
Molly was selected into the NZ Secondary Schools U16 Football team that travelled to Australia in April. Molly has been identified by the NZSSGF as a student with potential to achieve within the NZ Football environment.
Imogene Dalton
Fencing
Imogene Dalton in 2024 was a New Zealand Fencing representative at the Commonwealth Cadets Championships in Christchurch and the Australian Fencing Championships
Paige Fogarty & Tegan Macfadyen - FLOORBALL
Paige & Tegan were selected in the NZ Women’s Under 19 Floorball Team. They travelled to Finland this year to play in the Women’s World Floorball Championships, Playing against Singapore, Germany, Australia and Hungary. They won 2 out of the 4 games, finishing 13th out of 16 teams.
