JUNIOR TEAM OF THE YEAR
JUNIOR TEAM OF THE YEAR
Great teams start with the Juniors and the Junior A netball team have had a fantastic season. The team is made up of the best Year 9/10 netball students in the College.
The season started back in March with the team practicing hard to start their Netball Wellington competition in April. Fast forward to August and the team had a stellar season, taking out the adult grade Premier 3 Netball Wellington competition.
The team played in the College Sport Junior Premier Tournament, the top 28 junior teams from colleges in the region all vying to be in the final. The team played exceptionally well and deserved to be playing off for the title.
The team also travelled to Palmerston North for the Netball Manawatu junior tournament. The wet windy weather did not stop our team taking out the title.
There are of course reasons for the results, the girls were all committed to doing well, practicing hard each week, treating each other with respect and turning up to games with game day attitudes. The team were lucky to have community head coach Martha Taru, assistant Helen Moriartry and manger Deb Tapp supporting them.
Team members were: Ava Stephen, Astyn Toma, Faith Sola, Naiya Skipworth-Taulo, Maddi Hill, Ruby Morrison, Penina Ualesi, Zairah Aiomata-Suafa from WEGC
Te Ao Rangi Tawhara, Ngawaierua Campbell - Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna
