In football, his big plays either scored touchdowns or set up short scoring plays for teammates like Charles and Johnny Maiden. During his last three years with football, the program won 41 of 42 games and won the 1955 state championship by going 13-0.
Yarborough had 97 yards rushing and caught a 57-yard touchdown pass in the state championship game. He also recovered a fumble and batted away a pass in the end zone to help secure the win.
