DAILY ROUTINES & INFO FOR THE MEDIA CENTER
Before school starts, turn on the Check IN computer located near the front door, and the laptop located on my "teaching table" in the Non-fiction section. I will leave directions for the Check IN computer on the Check In Station. You should be able to use your sub login for the laptop on the Teaching Table. IF it does not work, please ask the office for a login OR ask for Mrs. Engelhaupt to help you.
8:45-9:15m - Please check help with carpool out front.
Materials You Need
Most materials you will need for classes today are located on a table near the tv/display monitor in the Non-Fiction area. Please review today’s plans and make sure that you see all of the materials needed for today. If anything appears to be missing, please ask the office to find Ms. Engelhaupt to come help you.
Classroom Management / Behavior Expectations
At the beginning of every single class I review the expectations using the following script:
My expectations today are the same as last week and all year long.
I expect that you will Be Safe and you will Be Respectful.
Right now being safe looks like sitting on your bottom, your body is in control and your body parts are kept to yourself. (If students will be moving around the room, substitute "using walking feet" for sitting on your bottom)
Right now being respectful looks like eyes and ears are on me, your mouth and body are quiet and you are paying attention. (If students are sitting for a lesson or read-aloud)
OR
Right now being respectful looks like using a whisper voice, staying on task to ________ and not bothering other students.
Below are the specific indicators for each of my two expectations:
Being Safe
Using walking feet only
Keeping all of my body parts to myself
Using materials appropriately
Sitting in my chair on my bottom and keeping my chair on the floor, in one place.
Being Respectful
Using kind words and kind voices
Listening when the teacher or another student is talking
Raising my hand and waiting quietly to be called on
Using a quiet voice
Waiting my turn in line for checkin or checkout
You may also frequently use the phrase, “I will wait until you are ready.” Remind students that you will continue when you know they are “Ready.” You can say, “I know you are ‘ready’ when you are sitting on your bottom, your hands are in your lap, your eyes and ears are on me and your mouth is quiet.”
12:00-12:30pm - LUNCH! You may eat in the library OR the teacher’s lounge.
2:15-2:45pm - Planning Period Please use this time to straighten shelves, wipe down tables and sort books on the carts.

Go out front and stand at a cone as directed by other staff members. Help students get into their cars.
