Sub Plans for Media Center
for Evelyn Bussell
PM of Wednesday, March 16, 2022
Thank you for subbing for me this afternoon! Please write me any notes about how your afternoon goes, about particular classes or students that I should know about.
Water bottles, backpacks, lunch boxes/bags, playground equipment should all be left on/at the empty wooden display by the front door next to the light switch panel.
SCHEDULE:
12:35-1:20pm - 2nd Grade - Kelber & Kenner
1:25-2:10pm - 4th Grade - Brinson
2:15-2:45pm - Planning
2:50-3:35pm - 5th Grade - Mercer
SEATING & Book Return
ALL Grades As students come in, take any books they are returning and scan the Pleasant Grove barcode on the back to check them in. Make sure the book shows up on the screen and then it may be placed on the purple cart.
Students Grades 2-5 will sit in the Non-Fiction section. Seat students 3 at a time in line order to tables (ie: first 3 students in line should sit together at the front left table; the next 3 students in line should sit together at the next table close to the tv; the next 3 students in line should sit together at the front right corner table; etc).
2nd Grade - 12:35-1:20pm - Saint Patrick’s Day Digital Choiceboard
Teachers been instructed to have students bring their chromebooks to Media today. After students are seated, they should turn on their devices, open Chrome and open a new tab. In the address box (aka, url box) they should type in the address for today. Please note that they must type it exactly as it is written on the board. I have left papers with the address written on them as well so that you can place one at each table.
Students may do any of the items on the Saint Patrick’s Day Choice Board that appears. You will likely need to assist the 2nd graders the most with getting to the correct address.
While students are doing the choice board, go to the CheckOut computer and pull up their homeroom. Click on each student to see if they have any books out. If they have zero or only 1 book out, you may call on them to check out. I would suggest only calling a few students at a time.
4th Grade - 1:25-2:10pm and 5th Grade 2:50-3:35pm - Netsmartz Intro and Episode One
While projecting to the TV, go to https://www.netsmartzkids.org/activities/interactive/ and lead students through all parts under “Quest Starts Here” and all of “Episode 1” (except you won’t be able to play Spot the Helpers with the 5th Graders as I’ve not found a workaround for playing the game multiple times).
After completing the Netsmartz lesson/s students may check out books and read quietly. You will need to remind them that they must use walking feet and whisper voices. If they choose to play, run around or otherwise be loud or off-task, they lose their opportunity to check out for the day.
End of Day
Shutdown all computers
Straighten tables & chairs
Go out and help at carpool, 3:45-4:15pm.
