SEATING & Book Return
ALL Grades As students come in, have them place any water bottles, bookbags, lunch boxes, etc. on the table or floor in the rainbow taped off section at the front door. I have emailed teachers already to let them know that students should NOT be bringing any books to the Media Center today. If they do bring books back, have them place the books inside of the book return.
ALL Students will sit in the Non-Fiction section. Have the line leader take the line and stop at the rainbow line on the floor just before the tables. Seat students 3-4 at a time at the tables
3rd Grade - 9:30-10:15am - 4th Grade - 1:25-2:10pm - 5th Grade - 2:50-3:35pm
Unruly Library Patron activity
After students are seated, you will project the laptop to the tv.
Provide each student with a handout and a pencil. You may provide one eraser per table, but only at your discretion.
Project the “3-5 The Case of The Unruly Library Patron” slide presentation to the tv. Click on the “Slideshow” button to make it go full screen.
You can either read through the slides or ask students to read slides as you get to them.
For each example of what the unruly library patron did wrong, ask students to share out what they could have or should have done instead. If students don’t know the answer, they can always “ask Ms. Bussell for help.”
Once you have completed the activity, please read aloud Jake Drake Bully Buster by Andrew Clements to the students.
Kindergarten - 10:20-11:05am
After students are seated, you will project the laptop to the tv.
State the following at the beginning and anytime during the period that students are talking, playing or otherwise not paying attention:
“I will wait until you are ready. I will know you are ready when you are sitting on your bottom, your hands are in your lap, your eyes and ears are on me, and your mouth is quiet.”
Go to https://storylineonline.net/ and click on any of the stories for the students to hear stories read aloud.
After two or three stories, give each student a piece of paper and each table a box of crayons.
Ask students to draw a picture of their favorite story that the class watched/listened to today.
Students should write their name on their paper, although you may want to go around and write it for them.
Students may take their paper with them, and you’ll want to collect them and give them to the teacher.
1st Grade - 11:10-11:55pm & 2nd Grade - 12:35-1:20pm
