Wednesday, May 4, 2022
Thank you for subbing for me! I am home sick today, so if you have any questions, please text me at 919-539-8467. Please write me any notes about how your day goes, about particular classes or students that I should know about.
BEFORE SCHOOL
Circulation Computers - My daughter, Felicity, who is a 5th grader will stop by on the way to her class and get them logged on and set up for circulation. You may also find the directions printed in the front of the sub notebook that I left on the circulation desk yesterday, although I can’t guarantee it’s still there since I was out yesterday as well.
Morning Duty 8:45-9:15am - Stand at the bottom of the stairs of the 2nd grade hallway (it’s green, the last one before the doors to the bus loop) and make sure students are walking and not dilly-dallying.
Water bottles, backpacks, lunch boxes/bags, playground equipment should all be left on/at the empty wooden display by the front door next to the light switch panel.

SEATING & Book Return
ALL Grades As students come in, take any books they are returning and at the CheckIN computer (closest to the front door) scan the Pleasant Grove barcode on the back to check them in. Make sure the book shows up on the screen and then it may be placed on the blue cart.
ALL Students will sit in the Non-Fiction section. Seat students 3 at a time in line order to tables (ie: first 3 students in line should sit together at the front left table; the next 3 students in line should sit together at the next table close to the tv; the next 3 students in line should sit together at the front right corner table; etc).
3rd Grade - 9:30-10:15am - NetsmartzKids online
Teachers have been instructed to have their students bring their Chromebooks to Media today. After students are seated, they should turn on their devices, open Chrome and open a new tab. In the address box (aka, url box) they should type in the address netsmartzkids.org/activities/interactive and scroll down to play or resume the Cloud Quest. If they finished the Cloud Quest last time, they may play any of the games on this website.
Kindergarten - 10:20-11:05am & 1st Grade - 11:10-11:55am - Cinco De Mayo
After students are seated, you will project the laptop to the tv.
Go to bit.ly/CincoMayoMedia.
Click on the PebbleGo link and read aloud or listen to the text there. Sometimes this link works and sometimes it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, go to the other sections. Listen to the song that goes with a book (at the top in the middle) and then the three links on the right side of the page.
Let students know that they will not be checking out today but that we will checkout on Friday as long as I am back at school.
2nd Grade - 12:35-1:20pm - Cinco de Mayo Digital Choiceboard
Teachers been instructed to have students bring their chromebooks to Media today. After students are seated, they should turn on their devices, open Chrome and open a new tab. In the address box (aka, url box) they should type in the address for today. Please note that they must type it exactly as it is written on the board.
Students may do any of the items on the Cinco de Mayo Choice Board that appears except for the drawings. You will likely need to assist the 2nd graders the most with getting to the correct address.
While students are doing the choice board, go to the CheckOut computer and pull up their homeroom. Click on each student to see if they have any books out. If they have zero or only 1 book out, you may call on them to check out. I would suggest only calling a few students at a time.
4th Grade - 1:25-2:10pm and 5th Grade 2:50-3:35pm
After students are seated, go to the CheckOut computer and pull up their homeroom. Click on each student to see if they have any books out. If they have zero to 2 books out, you may call on them to check out. They may have a total of 3 books out. I would suggest only calling a few students at a time.
Students should check out books and then sit and read quietly. You will need to remind them that they must use walking feet and whisper voices. If they choose to play, run around or otherwise be loud or off-task, they lose their opportunity to check out for the day.
End of Day
Shutdown all computers
Straighten tables & chairs
Go out and help at carpool, 3:45-4:15pm.
