Sub Plans for Media Center
for Evelyn Bussell
Afternoon of Friday, October 7, 2022
Thank you for subbing for me! If you have any questions you can try texting me at 919-539-8467. Please write me any notes about how your day goes, about particular classes or students that I should know about.
Please note: The classes scheduled this afternoon just came to Media yesterday and did checkout so they shouldn’t need to do checkout today.
Water bottles, backpacks, lunch boxes/bags, playground equipment should all be left on/at the empty wooden display by the front door next to the light switch panel.
SCHEDULE:
12:35-1:20pm - 2nd Grade - Russ & Raynor
1:25-1:55pm - Planning
2:00-2:45pm - 4th Grade - Roy
2:50-3:35pm - 5th Grade - Mercer
ALL Grades As students come in, have them place any water bottles, bookbags, lunch boxes, etc. on the table or floor in the rainbow taped off section at the front door.
2nd & 4th Grade Students will sit in the Non-Fiction section. Have the line leader take the line and stop at the rainbow line on the floor just before the tables.
Seat students 3-4 at a time at the tables.
Once students are seated, tell them, “Ms. Bussell’s expectations today are the same that they were yesterday and all year long - that you will be safe and you will be respectful. Right now, being safe looks like sitting on your bottom in your chair & not rolling around and keeping your body parts to yourself, including your feet. Being respectful looks like your eyes and ears are on me, your mouth is quiet and you are paying attention.”
2nd Grade - 12:35-1:20pm
Students should have brought their chromebooks to Media today as I discussed this yesterday with their teacher. There may be ~4 students who do not have a chromebook, in which case you can provide them with a silver ThinkPad laptop from the tech cart located in the Fiction section. They should know how to log onto the laptop but if not, have them try logging in using their lunch number for both username and password. If they just can’t get in, then have them find a book to sit and read.
Students should open up their devices and go to MyON, which their teacher says they know how to access and use. IF for some reason they don’t know, they can do the digital choice board below:
4th Grade - 1:25-2:10pm - Ask Ms. Roy what she wants them to work on. She was supposed to email me a list. If she is not here or she doesn't know, see the suggestions below the next paragraph.

Students can work on DreamBox or Epic (reading) or they can do the digital choice board at bit.ly/21OctMedia.
Planning - 2:15-2:45pm
Please use this time to organize the books on the NonFiction cart. If you complete that task, please start shelving those books.
5th Grade - 2:50-3:35pm
These students will sit in the Non-Fiction section and you will need to tell them where to sit based on the seating chart printed out with these plans. Once students are seated, tell them:
“Ms.
IF students brought a book, they may read silently at their seat; otherwise, they should listen to you read aloud to them from Jake Drake, Bully Buster by Clements. I have left a sticky note labeled Mercer on page 31 and noted where we stopped last time. Please use the entire time to read to them. If you finish the book you are welcome to ask them questions about the book (here) or you may let them chat quietly with the people at their table - but buyer beware! This class will take a mile if you give them an inch!
