Water bottles, backpacks, lunch boxes/bags, playground equipment should all be left on/at the empty wooden display by the front door next to the light switch panel.
SEATING: All classes will sit in the Non-Fiction section. For ALL classes except PreK and ECS, seat students 3-4 at a time in line order to tables (ie: first 4 students in line should sit together at the front left table; the next 4 students in line should sit together at the next table close to the tv; the next 4 students in line should sit together at the front right corner table; etc). PreK teachers will seat students as they see fit. ECS students will sit on the floor in the Everyone section if plans call for you to read a book to them and move to the tables if plans call for a coloring activity, OR they will sit at the tables if plans call for you to show them a video.
Fall Books Read Aloud & Drawing
Select 2 books from the selection of fall books to read aloud (select only one book for ECS)
Read aloud and compare the books
Project drawing video to tv monitor - https://bit.ly/DrawFallBird
Provide a piece of paper and pencil for each student (blue bag pencils are sanitized, yellow bag pencils are not and can be sanitized with the alcohol tech wipes)
Play & pause drawing video as needed
Students may take their drawing with them
Pencils should be collected in the yellow pencil bag to be sanitized by a teacher/sub/staff member and returned to the blue pencil bag
PreK-1st Check Out Library Books
Students may select ONE book to check out from the Everyone section, including the browsing bins of non-fiction books sorted into labeled categories
Students will keep their library book for 2 weeks
Check IN and Check OUT, Read Aloud
Use the computer located on top of the return bin by the front door.
Log on for the computer - username = 533patron password = destiny2021
Follow printed directions labeled “Library Media Services” about “Circulating books”
Students may ONLY check OUT new books IF they returned their books and/or have no books out.
Students who have books from last year, the year before and/or from a previous school may only check out ONE book, so long as they have no more than 3 other books from a previous school or school year
After checking out books, students should return to their seat at the tables and read quietly until everyone has checked out and you begin reading to them.
If a student is unable to or chooses not to check out books, they should select a book from one of the carts to read while waiting for everyone else to do checkout and return the book to the cart at the end of class.
Once everyone has checked out books, have them return to their seats at the tables and read aloud to them from Tuck Everlasting for 4th Grade and from Out of My Mind for 5th Grade.
You may need to find the sticky note bookmark with their class name on it OR you may need to create one.
Please place the sticky note bottom side down so that the non-sticky part sticks up out of the book and displays the class name. (see other chapter books I have left for other grades’ read alouds to see what I mean)
