Sub Plans for Media Center
for Evelyn Bussell
PM of Friday, March 25, 2022
Thank you for subbing for me this afternoon! Please write me any notes about how your afternoon goes, about particular classes or students that I should know about.
Water bottles, backpacks, lunch boxes/bags, playground equipment should all be left on/at the empty wooden display by the front door next to the light switch panel.
SCHEDULE:
12:35-1:20pm - 2nd Grade - Baker & Kenner
1:25-2:10pm - 4th Grade - Bell
2:15-2:45pm - Planning
2:50-3:35pm - 5th Grade - Hanson
SEATING & Book Return
ALL Grades As students come in, take any books they are returning and scan the Pleasant Grove barcode on the back to check them in. Make sure the book shows up on the screen and then it may be placed on the purple cart.
Students Grades 2-5 will sit in the Non-Fiction section. Seat students 3 at a time in line order to tables (ie: first 3 students in line should sit together at the front left table; the next 3 students in line should sit together at the next table close to the tv; the next 3 students in line should sit together at the front right corner table; etc).
2nd Grade - 12:35-1:20pm - Earth Day Videos & Worksheets
Let the students know that even though Earth Day is not until April, we usually start thinking about it now that Spring has begun.
Play the three Earth Day Read Aloud videos. (Tabs are already open)
Earth Day Every Day https://youtu.be/qvdhsn-BFDI
I Can Save the Earth https://youtu.be/2Mkwhe6LOBo
How to Help the Earth by The Lorax https://youtu.be/lbUS3jPjyrc
After the videos students may do either or both of the Earth Day Word Search or Earth Day Crossword puzzle.
While students are doing the worksheets, go to the CheckOut computer and pull up their homeroom. Click on each student to see if they have any books out. If they have zero or only 1 book out, you may call on them to check out. I would suggest only calling a few students at a time. You’ll need to ask which students are in Mrs. Kenner’s class.
4th Grade - 1:25-2:10pm and 5th Grade 2:50-3:35pm - Netsmartz Episode Three
While projecting to the TV, go to the tab labeled “Interactive Activity - Be Safer Online” and lead students through all parts under “Episode 3” (except stop at the Word Search).
After completing the Netsmartz lesson & Reflection Questions pass out the word search and pencils. Once students complete the word search, they should turn it into you and return their pencil and then they may check out books and read quietly. You will need to remind them that they must use walking feet and whisper voices. If they choose to play, run around or otherwise be loud or off-task, they lose their opportunity to check out for the day.
End of Day
Shutdown all computers
Straighten tables & chairs
Go out and help at carpool, 3:45-4:15pm.
