The Salzburgers were hard working German Protestant who were kicked out of their homes. King George was also German Protestant who offered them land to settle in the new colony of Georgia.
While here, the Salzburgers established the town of Ebenezer. They were very industrious, creating a town with a water powered grist mill, a Sunday school, and an orphanage. They were also the group that grew silk on a large scale production.
Jews were originally banned by the Trustees. An exception was made and Jews were allowed because they had a doctor.
Dr. Samuel Nunes helped the new colony of Georgia slow the spread of yellow fever.
Abraham de Lyon was another Jew that helped with the establishment of Georgia. Abraham de Lyon was a winemaker. One of the things Oglethorpe hoped to help Georgia was wine.
The Jews were eventually offered land and settled in Georgia.
The Highland Scots were known as fierce fighters. That is one reason that James Oglethorpe brought them over.
They established the town of Darien, in the old Fort King George.
With the promise of land, the Highland Scots found in the Battle of Bloody Marsh and two other failed attempts to capture St. Augustine.
The Malcontents was a group of settlers that did not like the rules that were put before them. They were upset at the no slavery rule. Many times, the petitioned the King to remove that rule. Every time it was denied.
Eventually, the Malcontents moved from the colony of Georgia. One year before the Trustee period was to end the trustees stepped down.
