There wasn't too many strengths of the Articles of Confederation.
Some of the strengths included: set up a republican form of gov't (citizens elect people to represent them), established a self gov't for new nation, Declare war, coin money, Establish Post office, and send/recall ambassadors.
These strengths did NOT outweigh the weakness.
This weakness were great. The weaknesses included:
There was no strong national government
No leader controlled the government
Congress could not establish a national army without the permissions of the states.
Congress could not collect taxes
Congress could make laws but could not force states to obey them
Each state had one vote.
Congress could not make laws about trade.
These weakness were so great that the got back together for the Second Continental Congress, threw the Articles of Confederation away, and started over.
Georgia Attended the Second Continental Congress. Here they got rid of the Articles of Confederation and wrote the U.S. Constitution. Abraham Baldwin and William Few represented Georgia.
Abraham Baldwin is best known for two things: the creation of the bicameral house (2 house legislative branch) and for the establishment of UGA /1st President of UGA.
