Be clear about communication

Many teachers tell us that they often miss messages from students. This happens because there are multiple ways to reach you, without you knowing all these ways. For example, there is the option for students to send you a message via Canvas.

Checking all these different ways can be time consuming for you. This is why we advise you to choose only one way to communicate with your students. However, you have to be clear to them how you wish to communicate with them.

One option is to only communicate via email. In this case it is wise to mention your email address on the Homepage and underneath a sentence that you only want to be contacted by email. This way it is clear for all students that you are only reachable this way and if they contact you differently you will not read it. In the picture below we have placed an example of how to do this.
