The 1999/2000 Lady Vols Basketball season was marked by yet another impressive performance by the team, as they secured their third consecutive 30-win season, SEC title, and SEC Tournament title. The season also saw the Lady Vols achieve a significant victory over the UConn Huskies, who were previously unbeaten, with a 72-71 win during the regular season.
During the NCAA tournament, the Lady Vols dominated their way to the championship game, winning all five of their games by a margin of at least ten points. However, their championship dreams were dashed as they fell to the Huskies, who exacted their revenge with a 71-52 win.
Nonetheless, the Lady Vols achieved a notable milestone during the season, as they helped Pat Summitt secure her 700th career victory. The team won the landmark game against Wisconsin with a score of 85-62, allowing Summitt to join Jody Conradt of Texas as the only women's coaches at the time with 700 career wins. Despite the defeat in the championship game, the Lady Vols had once again proven their dominance in women's college basketball.
