The 1994-1995 season was marked by Pat Summitt's decision to schedule up-and-coming program UConn and play the first game in the series at the Huskies' Gampel Pavilion in Storrs. The game, which saw No. 1 UT take on the second-ranked hosts, ended in a 77-66 victory for UConn, marking the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Despite the loss, Tennessee continued its dominance in the SEC regular season, winning it for the third consecutive year. However, they failed to win the tournament title for the third straight year. Tennessee easily made it to the NCAA championship game, with no game being closer than 21 points. However, in the National Championship game, the Lady Vols fell to the undefeated UConn Huskies 70-64, denying them a chance to win their fourth consecutive national championship.
