Other South Wellington
Some areas on the track at South Wellington and on the Ice House Track with potential maintenance requirements.
South Wellington
Braided Site 1
Just a short distance south from the hardened section done in December 2018 and January 2019 is a braided area.
It probably would not require a lot of work to improve and there is local rock available.

Braided Site 2
Close to the junction with Smiths Monument Track is a section that becomes wet for prolonged periods and is significantly braided. It is approximately 50 metres in length.
This section is a little difficult to repair as it would either require rocks or perhaps planking.
Further south to the junction with Smiths Monument is not in good condition

Braided Site 3
Just beyond the junction with Ice House and south Wellington tracks there is a short braided section of track that gets wet and a little muddy at times.
There would be local rock not too distant away that could be used to improve the track here.

Two areas where the track could have attention
In the upper section everal rock steps have been added plus other parts hardened. Sections between these which are mostly only short look to be in need of similar treatment. It appears to be a fairly significant task possibly needing rock to be delivered to the site.
The photos start near the top and are in descent order.
Well down the track is a wet section even in the dry weather. It has had several drains added but is still wet. Although drains may be able to be improved further, it may be that stepping stones are needed

Potential Solution
One solution is to use concrete steps that are made to look like stone. They have been used at Mount Field where they were installed in late 2019 early 2020 on the high volume track between Russell and Horseshoe Falls.
There are 4 patterns and when these are spread out it most visitors would not realise that it was not natural stonework.
They are supplied in two colours
