Inglewood has a fire break and fire trail and had two extensive lengths of gorse infestation along the bushline on each side.
The area on this page is that on the north side of the fire break. A separate page holds the southern side details.
On this northern side work started in March 2007 and primary weeding finished in January 2012.
The south ??? side is 500 metres in length

gh it was apparent that much higher volumes were in the site close to the edge of the fire break that was done as part of an Envirofund grant.

Fine weather. Knocked off about half (or more?) of what was left of that stand and hopefully we should completely finish it next time, although I've been told there are some there that will definitely require a chainsaw. Apart from the gorse there were a few staggly blackberries, a cotoneaster and a holly. Newcomers all got stuck into it.

A few members were away and a number of others must have been put off by the miserable and cold weather earlier in the morning, resulting in only 4 members turning up. The intrepid 4, together with Bec & John from HCC, decided to head up the Main Fire Trail about 70m and tackle an area just off the south side of the trail.
Most of the morning was spent there cutting & pasting / pulling gorse, blackberries, spanish heath, a couple of hollies and a cotoneaster.
We then headed to the originally designated area west of Inglewood Rd near the boom gate and tackled a small 'island' of gorse which had survived a previous spraying.

A large patch of Gorse was removed that was growing well inside the bush off the Inglewood Fire Trail. Four people from CVA assisted in the work and were taken on a walk along the new multipurpose Track during the afternoon

Slight drizzle and no view of the mountain was not an encouraging start but it soon cleared and we were able to comfortably achieve our morning’s objective. We cleared an island of Gorse within the bushland beside the Inglewood fire break. This work had commenced in March 2007 and continued in July 2007 and May 2008. Part of the area had also recently been cleared as part of our Envirofund Round 9 project. We then moved along the edges of the Middle Island Fire Trail clearing Gorse and Erica regrowth, plus a mature patch of Gorse.

A large area of old Gorse was removed that was growing well into the bush near the Inglewood Trail. This was a continuation from where we left off previously and also close to an area that was part of a Greencorp project. Much Gorse remains at this site, including patches further into the bush

Several large and thick patches of Gorse were removed by cut and paste. Two of these patches were deep within the bushland, some 50 metres in from the fire break. They looked quite daunting on first sight, but it is quite amazing how much a group of people can achieve and there were several murmurs of satisfaction after the work was completed.
