Old Hobartian Track

Lenah Valley Track

Wet Area on Old Hobartian Track

It is 180 metres up from the start junction on the Lenah Valley Fire Trail. There is a small creek and after all these years it has decided to send some of the flow underground to this spot. I have seen this happen in spots before, maybe the dry soil has provided an avenue. Strangely enough another spot that did go like this and was subsequently fixed with a rock drain is now dry and the water all flows on the original course.

It is only a short section and one that would be a possible job that FOWP could be involved with, but you may prefer to not leave it until that can be arranged.. It looks like it only needs moderate rocks and there is access to the creek very close by.

Situation 9/5/19

The short section on the Old Hobartian Track previously discussed in January 2019 has deteriorated further. Water seeping out of the ground is now easy to locate as it is flowing more now. It would not be hard to put in a rock drain to Chanel the water into New Town Rivulet

Access to creek for potential rocks only a few metres from site.
