Exercise machines are a great way to get a workout in, especially if you're new to a certain movement or you want to isolate a particular muscle group. However, they're only useful if you know how to use them! 

As beginner-friendly and straightforward these seem, there are lots of things to keep in mind to 1) protect yourself from injury and 2) get the best results from your workouts.
