Cardio

Cardio

As much as I'd love to convince myself otherwise, cardio's a vital part of any fitness routine. Get your heart beating!

Exercise Bikes

Section III has three types of bikes: indoor cycling (IC), upright (UR), and recumbent (RC).

Choose whichever suits your desired intensity and impact level!

Indoor Cycling Bicycle (IC)

These most closely mimic road bikes with their shape and leaning action.

Highest-intensity out of the three and especially engages your core - lots of fun, plus you can look out the window at Cannan Green!

Upright Bicycle (UR)

Similar to IC bikes but minus the leaning action. Up the resistance easily using the dial on the interface!

Recumbent Bicycle (RC)

The least intense and back-friendly! Great for low-impact, steady-state cardio you can sit back and multi-task during.

Ellipticals

Ellipticals are great for low-impact cardio.

You can also modify settings like resistance and incline to target different muscles!

Section III offers both standard ellipticals and adaptive motion trainers (AMTs) - the decision is yours based on how you prefer your stride path.

Elliptical

Classic ellipticals run on a pre-set path.

Get your arms involved by holding onto the handles, and use the interface to adjust resistance and intensity!

Adaptive Motion Trainer (AMT)

Adaptive motion trainers (AMTs) freely move with you! Step or slide however you want for a low-impact workout.

Treadmills

I'd rather go outside for a jog, but treadmills are lower-impact and offer better control over your pace and environment.

Section III offers not only your standard motorized treadmill but also two nonmotorized treadmills!

Motorized Treadmills

These are your regular, run-of-the-mill (pun intended) treadmills.

Adjust speed and incline elevation for more intensity, or follow one of the pre-programmed interval programs!

Non-Motorized Treadmills

These treadmills go at your pace, creating a more natural-feeling running experience!

Note: the video's treadmill is curved - these are flat, but work the same way.

Step Mills

I usually chase my workouts with a few minutes on one of these -- just hit Quick Start and adjust speed to your liking!

(Pro tip: distract yourself from the pain with something to watch/read. I can't tell you how many post-workout Anki flashcards I've been through)

Versa Climber

Deceptively easy to use, and great for a hardcore, full-body, non-impact HIIT workout!

(Note: if you want to get your climbing fix, check out the Outing Club's bouldering/climbing walls!)
