Carron Company letter books give Parkhouse as his address on 8 July 1802 and 22 March 1803. [1] Correspondence with William Forbes of Callendar also confirms that William Symington was in residence at Parkhouse, Falkirk, in January 1804 and February 1806.
Described in the late 1850's as "A neat cottage, with office attached, former two storeys, all slated and in good repair", [2] Park house was situated at Bleachfield, just to the South-East of Lock number 7 of the Forth and Clyde Canal. The house was linked directly with the lock by a short curving tree-lined driveway. [3] The map reference for Parkhouse is 56 deg 00' 19" N 3 deg 47" 40" W.
By July 1806 William Symington had moved to the Westquarter Estate, where he lived until January 1808. [4] Thereafter, in correspondence, he gave his address as simply “Falkirk.” [5]
