In Paris, the Montparnasse district was one of the most important suburbs of the local art scene at the beginning of the 20th century. Many historical cafés still exist and still exude the alternative flair in the district. In this setting of the picturesque and lively urbanity, another modern café should be created, which should sheat a new light on the entire area. The Gaston-Baty-Square serves as an imaginary planning area. Additional functions have been added to the conventional tasks of a café: An art gallery, a co-working space and a reading room that can be used as a multi-function room at the same time. There are four cubic buildings on the site, which can be accessed individually. This arrangement creates a small architectural ensemble with many small, exciting spaces that offer privacy, but at the same time are transparent and can be seen from the outside.
